Description

Credit Risk Officer | Beirut

The Credit Risk officer should develop and implement policies and procedures that reduce credit risk for the bank.

The Credit Risk Officer should develop and submit credit risk assessments reports to the Bank’s Credit and Risk Committees in support of client credit proposals and credit facility reviews.


The candidate should develop key performance indicators (KPI’s) and reports to give structure to investigations and reviews of client risks and counter party risks and performs ad hoc reviews, investigations and special assignments as required by the Risk Manager.


The candidate should coordinate with the Risk Manager to build some of financial models that predict credit risk exposure to the bank.

Also, the candidate should prepare the performance reports for management and he should have extensive knowledge of department processes.


It is advisable that the candidate typically requires 5 years’ experience in the related area as an individual contributor.


Tasks may include:
• Attend the credit committee meetings as secretary and non-voting member to take the minutes and to issue all the related credit decisions.


• Analyze client financial statements and prepare the credit analysis and risk-adjusted profitability income reports to support client credit/financing requests and credit review process
• Provides reports about performed risk analyses, clients and regulators and delivers value added insight into the client’s credit lines, credit proposals and potential risks.


• Responsible for the internal rating system and ECLs under IFRS9
• Controls the investigation with banks and other credit bureaus;
• coordinate with real estate experts for appraisals related to the suggested or offered collaterals, …
• Gathers necessary information to support the economic sectors mainly for the biggest debtor clients.


• Prepares monthly and quarterly credit risk reports mainly: IFRS9 reports, breakdown of loan portfolio; Retail progress report, excess report, unpaid report, etc…
• Liaise with the External Auditors on routine missions to the bank and to matters related to credit files and other risk reports related to IFRS9 and other disclosures.


• Follow up credit files as per BCC 238 with daily follow up towards completion of credit files
• Coordinate with Credit Admin with all aspects related to credit risks, BDL reports, collaterals, etc…
• Implement the bank’s procedures and guidelines and standard operating procedures documentations;
• Tracks new Bank regulations and provides advice to the Bank.


• Coordinate with relationship officers to get the client site visits reports and obtain relevant financial/risk profile information from clients as part of the overall client credit risk assessment
• Review loan requests: Assess clients’ financial status, Evaluate credit worthiness and Analyze risks, Coordinate with Credit Department to gather financial data and documentation, calculate financial ratios (e.

credit scores and interest rates), Set up payment plans, etc…
• Provides credit risk opinion on all loan requests and studies (commercial and retail files);
• Maintain updated records of loan applications
• Provides credit risk assessment for new bank’s products and services including the new digital offerings
• Liaise with the bank’s lawyer all matters related to loan documentation, loan agreements, etc…
• Liaise with the bank’s lawyer all matters related to remedial and recovery procedures for litigious credit files.

• Monitor progress of existing loans: Excess report, unpaid reports, etc…
• Review all Internal & External Audit reports to extract relevant risk & control information for use in reporting and remediation.


• Monitor resolution of all associated Internal Audit recommendations post audit issues
• Working with Business units within the Bank to establish, maintain and continuously improve risk management capabilities.


• Performs Stress testing for the credit portfolio by using plausible scenarios with clear results and impacts
• Responsible for internal and regulatory reporting requirements mainly for Credit Capital charge under capital adequacy ratio, Capital recovery plan, ICAAP, LCR, etc…
• Work with Risk manager to implement Credit risk policy framework for the bank
