Interview Officer | Beirut

Length of Employment:
15 August 2020 to 31 March 2021

Duties and Responsibilities
Focus Humanitarian Assistance Lebanon, an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), currently supports the Embassy of Canada to Lebanon’s resettlement assistance program for Syrian and other refugees in Lebanon to resettle to Canada.

The Interview Officer will be responsible for:
• Conducting interviews with refugee clientele in Arabic;
• Documenting interview outcomes in written English;
• Supporting other staff including, but not limited to:
- Receiving refugee clients at the office, validating their identities and appointments, referring them to the waiting area and calling upon them for their interviews;
- Liaising with the Embassy of Canada to Lebanon by email and phone, sending and receiving case files to the Embassy by courier/driver;
- Uploading completed files to the online database after each interview is completed;
- Undertaking routine clerical and administrative functions, such as composing and answering e-mails, placing and receiving phone calls, receiving and sending couriers;
- Securing office requirements including stationary, supplies and equipment;
- Developing a list of vendors and suppliers and updating the list as necessary;
- Making payments related to the office and logging payments in the float;
- Maintain the office in reasonable condition;
• Any additional tasks as directed by the Unit Manager or Office Supervisor.



Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college;
• Experience in humanitarian assistance, refugee protection and refugee resettlement in Lebanon;
• Fluency in English and Arabic (written, read and spoken);
• IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite and 365 (especially Microsoft Word and Excel) and Dropbox;
• Basic financial management and understanding
